Join us at Leeds Art Gallery in our hands-on Artspace for families. There will be lots of rolls of wallpaper and plenty of art materials to choose from. Be inspired by our permanent collections or temporary exhibitions, and let your imaginations run wild. We will work collaboratively to transform the room into an artwork in its own right!

Child Friendly Leeds Live
Inspired by a children’s idea, Child Friendly Leeds Live is back in Millennium Square for the biggest children’s festival in Yorkshire featuring popular children’s characters, performers, music and entertainment on National Play Day, Wednesday 2nd August.
Alongside the fantastic stage show, there will also be a host of supplementary activities across the square such as glitter tattoos, den building, climbing wall, balloon modelling. Many activities have been inspired by the National Play Day theme for 2023, ‘Playing on a shoestring – making every day an adventure.’ This year’s theme focuses on the everyday low-cost or no-cost play adventures that children can enjoy at home, in settings, and in our communities.
Teddy Bear’s Picnic and Play
As part of National Play Day on Wednesday 2nd August 2023 come and enjoy a range of action-packed family-fun free activities. There will be a picnic area to enjoy a spot of lunch, face painting, glitter tattoos, crafting, as well as play equipment and a Best Dressed Bear Competition!
Ready to bring adventure into the everyday without breaking the bank? National Play Day’s theme this year, “Playing on a shoestring – making every day an adventure,” celebrates the joys of engaging, cost-effective play. It’s all about embracing the kind of spontaneous fun that doesn’t require a hefty investment – just like drawing a hopscotch with our provided giant chalk or navigating the ups and downs of a game of giant snakes and ladders.
Taking a cue from this theme, it reminds me of how my friend, who works in the digital entertainment industry, explained the appeal of offshore online casinos. They offer a form of escapism and the thrill of the game, accessible right from the comfort of one’s home, often without a large upfront cost – aligning with our own philosophy of accessible, inclusive fun.
And for outdoor enthusiasts, the Merrion Gardens playground remains a staple of wholesome entertainment. So, come out and play – because every day is an opportunity for a new adventure, whether it’s with us or through the vast digital playgrounds of the world.
